My name is Philip, or 'Pip', Martin and known to many as 'Vicar Philip'. I have been a Foundation Governor of St. James' First School since coming to be vicar in 1990.

Through all the many changes to education and our school I think the most important things have always been kept to the forefront at St. James': to care about the children and want the very best for them, and to treat every person involved in the school (parent, staff member, governor, neighbour, visitor) with real respect.

I am often involved in leading the weekly 'Worship Times' at school and enjoy children's questions in RE classes or when welcoming visits from the school to St. James' Church.

My wider work involves both leading and caring for the Parish Church and its ministry and also seeking to support any in the community who need my help, be it in visiting the sick, pastoring those going through challenging times, encouraging community activities or conducting baptisms, weddings and funerals.

I have an interest in speaking and reading Spanish and also enjoy the countryside, drawing and several sports.
