Welcome to St. James’ First School!
Our school is an amazing place, where learning is led by your child
and we aim to encourage and foster your child’s interests, so that
they leave our school feeling confident knowing their own skills
and talents as well as understanding that they are an important
part of the village, the wider community and the world.

We love being active in our learning and have the most amazing
grounds surrounding our school – which we are beginning to use
in all weathers! We have strong links with the local community,
through St. James’ Church and Alderholt Chapel as well as other
organisations in the community.

We aim to ensure that every child will leave our school having
taken a role in a school production, represented the school
including a sporting role in one of the competitions between our
local schools, had art work displayed, taken part in a learning
experience outside of the classroom and had their talent
recognised and celebrated by other members of the school.

We have a packed social life here at school, through our excellent
Parent Teacher Association (discos, quizzes, summer and
Christmas fayres, parties, Easter egg hunts – and many more!).
Our School Council ensure that the children’s voice is heard and
acted upon. We have after school and lunchtime clubs as well as
evening groups for the parents and others in the community.

We are really proud of our school and all of its children and we
look forward to working with you as part of our St. James’ family.
